In 1612 John's father, Thomas Akehurst, bequeathed to him an annuity of 40 shillings until he turns twenty-one. John was also bequeathed his father's dwelling house, barn, orchards, closes and easements in Hailsham, immediately following the death of John's mother, Margaret.
In 1635 John Akehirst was the sole executor of the Will of his mother-in-law Joane Younge of Wilmington, widow.
On 7 May 1638 John Akehurste was a witness to the Will of Thomas Colvill of Wilmington, husbandman. In December of this year, John Akehurst received a great brass pot from the Will of his late aunt Agnes Woolf of Hailsham, widow.
On 25 Jan 1639 John Akehurst of Wilmington, butcher, was granted Administration as Trustee of the nuncupative will of Thankfull Farncombe of Hailsham, husbandman.
On 14 Jul 1640 John Akehurst of Hailsham, butcher, was named as a surety on the issuing of a marriage licence for John Hewett of Hailsham, husbandman, and Margery Kent of the same place, maiden.
On 15 Sep 1640 John Akehurst of Hailsham, yeoman, was named as a surety on the issuing of a marriage licence for William Hobbem of Willmington, yeoman, and Susan Bodle of Hailsham, maiden.
In May 1645 John Akeherst was the sole executor and a residuary legatee of his mother's Will.
