Research Notes:
Henry's parents, Henry Newick and his wife Eleanor Akehurst, were the subjects of a removal order from Kingston near Lewes to Ticehurst issued on 22 Feb 1754, exactly two years after their marriage. There is evidence to suggest that Henry had recently been in Ticehurst, since his eldest son John Newark was christened there in 1753. Son Harry Newark was christened in Ticehurst in 1757 and is shown as Henry Newark (husband of Susannah), living in Etchingham, father of Mary Newark (chr. 1780), Henry Newark (chr. 1785), Ann Newark (chr. 1787), Thomas Newark (chr. 1790) and William Newick (chr. 1794).
