At the time of the 1841 England Census William Blackley, aged about 30, leather cu[rrier], and wife Sarah Blackley, aged about 20, were living in Biggin Street, St. Mary the Virgin, Dover Kent. With them were children: Alfred* (10), Benjamin* (8), Ellen* (6), and William (2). [Sarah's sister] Mary Callaway (20), farm servant, was also present.

At the time of the 1851 England Census William Blackley, aged 43, born in Canterbury Kent, shoemaker, and wife Sarah Ann Blackley, aged 30, born in Newington Kent, mangler, were living at 24 White Street, St. George the Martyr, Southwark Surrey. With them were children (born in Dover Kent) Alfred (18), linen draper's porter, Benjamin (17), shoemaker, William (11), scholar, and Frederick (6), scholar.
At the time of the 1861 England Census William Blackly, aged 53, born in Canterbury Kent, cordwainer, and wife Sarah Blackly, aged 40, born in Newington Kent, were living at 17 Nelson St., Bermondsey Surrey. With them were children William (21) of Dover Kent, warehouseman, Fredk. (16) of Dover, news vender, Elizabeth (6) of St. Georges Southwark, and Sarah (3 or 5) of Bermondsey.
At the time of the 1871 England Census William Blackly, aged 65, born in Canterbury Kent, shoemaker, and wife Sarah A Blackly, aged 50, born in Newington Kent, were living at 21 Mints St., St. Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey London. With them were children Benjamin (37) of Dover Kent, labourer, Frederick (26) of Dover, labourer, Elizabeth S (16) of Southwark Surrey, machine ruler, Sarah A (13 or 15) of Bermondsey.
At the time of the 1881 England Census William Blackley, aged 73, born in Canterbury Kent, shoemaker, and wife Sarah A Blackley, aged 60, born in Newington Kent, were living at 200 St. Georges Rd., Camberwell Surrey. Their daughter Sarah A Jury and her husband Thomas were living at the same address.
