In 1753 Nathaniel Bristed was a beneficiary and a residuary legatee of the Will of his brother John Bristed of Crawle in Warbleton, gent.
NATHANIEL BRISTED, M.A., was instituted Rector of Caundle Bishop on 23 Aug 1780, on the presentation of Henry, Lord Digby. B.A. 1758 ; M.A. 1767, Emmanuel Coll., Cantab. ; Headmaster of Sherborne School 1766-1790 ; Vicar of Haydon 1780 ; Vicar of Sherborne 1781 ; P.C. of North Wootton, Dorset, 1810. He died 10 Aug., and was buried at Caundle Bishop 16 Aug., 1810. 4

Abstract of the Will of Nathaniel Bristed of Bishops Caundle in the County of Dorset, Clerk, written 9 Jul 1808, codicil 19 Jul 1810, proved 13 Oct 1810. 5
Gives and devises to his eldest son John Charles Bristed all his reversion, remainder and interest in an estate called Swansey in the parish of Carsington in co. Oxford, currently occupied by widow Bryant, to commence following the death of Nathaniel's sister Hannah Bristed.
Gives to his said eldest son £200.
Gives £500 to his son John Bristed, a student of law now residing at New York in America, to be paid to him within two months following the decease of Nathaniel's wife Hester Bristed to whom he gives in the interim the interest arising from the said £500.
Gives to his daughters Hester Bristed and Jane Bristed £2,000 each out of the funds that are settled on his said wife and of which Henry Foot of Berwick St. John in co. Wilts., esquire, is now her sole surviving trustee.
Gives £20 to his daughter Prudence Jane wife of Mr. James Redit, taking into consideration what he has already given her.
All the rest and remainder of his estate and effects he gives to his wife Hester and her heirs and assigns.

Codicil:
Gives an additional £1,000 to his eldest son John Charles Bristed, and revokes the £2,000 each given to his daughters, giving them instead £1,500 a piece, based on what his wife has declared she will leave them in her Will.
Gives to his daughter Prudence Jane now the wife of James Redit the use of £200 during her life and after her decease to his granddaughter Prudence Redit.
Appoints his wife Hester Bristed sole executrix of his last will.
