DEATH OF MR. MEPHAM.—Although he was almost a stranger in New Brompton, the death of Mr. John Culley Mepham, music dealer, of Railway-street, came as a great shock to the residents, and the family have received numerous visits and messages of condolence. Mr. Mepham had an attack of rheumatic fever when he was fourteen years of age, with the result that he was afflicted with total blindness for the remainder of his life. He had been suffering from a violent cold, but was only taken seriously ill in the middle of last week, and he died on Saturday evening at the early age of 34. Many marks of respect were shown at the funeral on Wednesday, the first portion of the burial service being conducted in the Congregational Church New Brompton.
