Youngest son, Richard was bequeathed 12 pence in his father's Will (written 1679).
In 1704 Richard was bequeathed £100 in the Will of his brother John Burtenshaw of Cuckfield, yeoman. John made an additional bequest to Richard of £50 to be paid to him within three months following the death of their sister Anne Holford.
When writing his Will in Mar 1709 William Lashmer of Cuckfield, yeoman, names his brother-in-law Richard Burtenshaw when making bequests to Richard's children.

Gives, devises and bequeaths to his son Richard Burtenshaw and his heirs 70 acres of land along with its tenements and hereditaments called Nashlands in Lindfield.
Gives and bequeaths 10 shillings each to his daughters Mary Johnson the wife of William Johnson of Wivelsfield and Sarah Burt, widow.
Gives and bequeaths to his daughter Sarah Burt, widow, a featherbed with its stedle, curtains, vallance, rods, pillows, bolsters and blankets, along with a half-bushell iron pot.
Gives and bequeaths £20 to his son John Burtenshaw.
Gives and bequeaths £30 to his granddaughter Mary Johnson daughter of William Johnson.
Gives and bequeaths £10 to his granddaughter Sarah Johnson daughter of William Johnson.
All the rest and residue of his goods, chattels and personal estate he gives and bequeaths to his son Richard Burtenshaw whom he makes sole executor of his last will and testament.
