Writing his Will in Mar 1709 William Lashmer of Cuckfield, yeoman, bequeathed £4 each to Richard Burtenshaw, John Burtenshaw, Mary Burtenshaw and Sarah Burtenshaw, children of his brother-in-law Richard Burtenshaw.
Mary Johnson the wife of William Johnson was bequeathed 10 shillings in her father's Will (written 1716).
Writing his Will in Dec 1721 Mary’s uncle, Henry Burtenshaw of Cuckfield, yeoman, made a bequest of £50 to William Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Ann Johnson, Dorcas Johnson and John Johnson, children of William Johnson late of Wivelsfield, deceased, and Mary his wife. The £50 was paid to his ‘cousin’ Richard Burtenshaw of Lindfield, yeoman (Mary’s brother), with the interest thereof to be paid quarterly to Mary Johnson, their mother, during the life of Jane Pilbeame, mother of the said William Johnson, so long as Mary remains a widow. If Mary remarries, the interest is to be paid to her children.
