William was the son of Stephen Bull and Johana Broke, who were married in Cowfold on 30 Sep 1568. Born in Bolney Sussex in 1569, William had younger siblings Jane (b. 1571), Richard (b. 1575) and Anne (b. 1580). There is currently no other information is available to shed light on the relationship between William and other contemporary Bull family members.

In Mar 1620 William Bull was a witness to a release of lands called Crouches in Bolney, by Anne Streater of Bolney, widow of Thomas Streater of Twineham, to Robert Wickham of Cuckfield, husbandman.
In Jun 1623 William Bull was a witness to the Will of John Bull the younger of Cowfold, husbandman.
In May 1627 William Bull was a witness to the Will of Nicholas Goffe of Cowfold, yeoman.
In Oct 1630 William Bull provided surety for the issuing of a licence for marriage between his daughter Anne Cheale, widow, and John Lyntot of Bolney, yeoman.
In Feb 1631 William Bull and [his brother] Richard Bull were witnesses to the Will of John Awood of Bolney, yeoman.

Gives and bequeaths to his son James all his wearing apparel, £4 10s., and 30 shillings to be paid to him by William's executrix during the term of her natural life.
Gives and bequeaths 50 shillings each to the children of his son James which he had by his current wife, to be paid to them when they reach the age of 21 years. And if either of them should die underage, then he wills the same to James's eldest son, James.
Gives and bequeaths £4 to James's daughter Timmothy which he had by his first wife.
Gives and bequeaths £3 to his daughter Mary.
Gives and bequeaths £3 to his daughter Anne.*
