At the time of the 1881 England Census Alfred Carey, age 29, born in Lewes Sussex, white smith, and wife Louisa, age 29, born in Southsea Hampshire, were living in Maltravers Street, Arundel Sussex. With them were children: Albert (4) of Lewes Sussex, Frances (2) of Littlehampton Sussex.

At the time of the 1891 England Census Alfred Albert Carey, age 39, born in Lewis Sussex, married, white smith, was living in Arundel Sussex. With him was son Francis George (12) of Littlehampton Sussex, scholar. Wife Louisa A Carey and children Laura H (8) and Sydney A (5), both born in Arundel Sussex, were visiting the family of Frederick & Mary A Hart at 1 Swan Road, Portsea Hampshire.

At the time of the 1901 England Census Alfred Carey, age 49, born in Lewes Sussex, fitter for electricians, and wife Louisa Alice, age 49, born in Portsmouth Hampshire, were living in Park Place, Arundel Sussex. With them were children (born in Arundel): Laura (18), Sidney Arthur (15), wheel wright.

In Aug 1908 Alfred Albert Carey was present at the marriage of his daughter Laura Haynes Carey to Edward Luke Carver in Arundel, Sussex.

At the time of the 1911 England Census Alfred Carey, age 59, born in Lewes Sussex, blacksmith, and wife of 37 years Louisa, age 59, born in Portsmouth Hampshire (mother of 5 children, 2 deceased), were with their daughter Laura Carver and her family at 210 Park St., Luton, Bedfordshire.

In the 1939 Register Alfred A Carey (b. 16 Nov 1852*), widowed, motor engineer (retired), was with [his daughter] Laura H Carver and her family at 204 Park Street, Luton, Bedfordshire.
