In 1799 William Akehurst was bequeathed an annuity of £3 20s. from his father's Will.

Writing his Will in Dec 1826 Thomas Nailard of Heathfield, farmer, bequeathed to William Akehurst, his labourer of several years, 19 guineas, along with a cottage and 10 acres of land on Heathfield Downs in the parish of Heathfield.

At the time of the 1841 England Census William Akehurst, aged about 65, farmer, and wife Sarah, aged about 65, were living on New Cut Farm, Heathfield Sussex. Note that their ages are out by over a decade.
