At the time of the 1871 England Census Geo. B. Copley, age 21, born in Brighton Sussex, butcher, and wife Fanny, age 21, of Dibden Hants, were in the Belvois Castle Hotel at 3 Bevois Street St. Mary, Hampshire, where George's widowed mother was manageress. With them was son Geo. H. (3 months) of Brighton.
