George Foster Tufnell, esq. of Chichester, colonel of the East Middlesex Militia, b. in 1723, who was returned to parliament by the borough of Beverley in 1762, and 1774. 3

George's aunt Rebecca Tufnell, spinster (will proved 1730), bequeathed to him her gold watch and chain, gold rings and a set of desert knives and forks.

2nd son, named as a beneficiary in the Will of his maternal uncle Nathaniel Payler of Nun Munckton, Esq. (proved 1749)

George Foster Tufnel, Colonel of the East Middlesex Militia (burial record)

Abstract of the Will of George Forster Tufnell of Chichester in the County of Sussex, Esquire, written 25 Dec 1788 and proved 23 Aug 1798.

His eldest son having been already amply provided for by having his estate settled on him, he gives to him his library of books and The Virtues of Sir William and Lady Halton by Vandyke, his own saddle horse, his best pistols and 20 guineas for a ring.

Gives & bequeaths £500 to his wife Mary whom he appoints and makes sole executrix of his last will and testament.

All his manors or lordships, messuages tenements or dwelling houses, farms lands fields and grounds, hereditaments and premises whether freehold copyhold or leasehold in England, and all other goods chattels and effects, he gives in Trust to his wife Mary Tufnell late Mary Farhill, his brother William Tufnell Joliffe of Nun Munckton, his friend and brother-in-law John Farhill of Great Russell Street Bloomsbury esquire, and their heirs administrators & assigns, to the proper use for his three younger sons John Charles Tufnell, Samuel Joliffe Tufnell and George Tufnell.

Gives & bequeaths to his wife Mary all his household furniture, linen, plate, china, horses, carriages and farming stock in county Sussex (except his own riding horse already bequeathed to his son William).

Appoints his Trustees guardians of his children during their minorities.
