THE FUNERAL of the late Captain John Moyle took place at Pencoys, when the solemn service was impressively said by the Rev. F. Eastes, in the absence of the Rev. R. Heal, who has been out of the county some weeks. It was attended by a large concourse of mourners and friends, including nearly all the tradesmen, farmers, and miners of the district, and by many of the principal mine agents of the neighbourhood, among whom were Captain R. Pryor, Craze, Opie, Michell, Harvey, and others. Many a tear sprinkled the sod at Pencoys which covers the remains of this much-respected man.

WENDRON.—There has recently died at Four-lanes, Wendron, Captain John Moyle, who was for many years manager of the Boligey and Balmanheere Mines, Wendron, and who was also connected with Mellanear and Tolcarne. At seven years of age the deceased was sent to work at Tresavean (Gwennap), and in early manhood went to California with Sir Henry Huntly, to whom he rendered good service in his explorations. Returning home, Captain Moyle accepted an agency at North Frances, but soon afterwards went to Newfoundland as local agent for Messrs. Mackey and Bennett. After a few years of successful labour there, the deceased came again into Cornwall, at settled at Four-lanes, after consenting to undertake what has proved to be the most important work of his life. Captain Moyle took much interest in local and parochial affairs, and had held several offices in Wendron parish. The deceased, who was much respected, leaves a widow and one daughter—the latter married to Captain John Phillips, of South Crofty. The deceased was buried at Pencoys.
