Abstract of the Will of The Reverend Thomas Grylls of Cardinham Parsonage in the County of Cornwall, Clerk, written 22 May 1834, proved 23 Jan 1845. 4
Gives to his wife Sarah all his plate, linen, china, books, carriages, household goods and furniture, glass and liquors, along with the horses, cows and all other livestock. Also gives to his wife an annuity of £200 for life, paid to trustees.
Referring to his marriage settlement with Sarah his wife he bequeaths to her an annuity of £200 for life, paid to his trustees: his brother Glynn Grylls and brother-in-law John Vivian of Pencallenick.
Notes that his eldest son James Willyams Grylls has chosen an ensignry in the army purchased for him in preference to and in lieu of any provision from his father. Otherwise, following the death of his wife, directs his trustees to dispose of his freehold and leasehold lands, tenements & hereditaments, and pay to his children once they have reached their respective ages of twenty-one years.
Appoints his wife Sarah the sole executrix of his last will and testament.

In a codicil dated the same day he nominates Humphrey Willyams of Carnarton, Esquire, as co-trustee of his will. As he has incurred considerable expenses in providing educations for his four sons, he limits their portions of his property as follows: to John Gerveys, £500 ; to Humphrey Millett, £300 (£200 having already been laid out for his clerkship); Thomas Glynn, £500 ; and to finally his eldest son James Willyams Grylls who has had more than the others, £100 in token of his reconciliation with his parents...
