Marriage Notes:
MARRIAGE OF MR. J. S. V. BICKFORD TO MISS CHARLOTTE BICKFORD-SMITH.
A very pretty wedding took place in the Wesleyan Chapel at Chynhale, near Helston, on Thursday, the contracting parties being Mr. John Solomon Vivian Bickford, only son of the late Major Bickford, of Penlu, Camborne, and Miss Charlotte Bertha, youngest daughter of Mr. William Bickford-Smith, J.P., of Trevarno, who represented the Truro-Helston division in Parliament from 1880 until the last election.
The little chapel at Chynhale, (which owes its existence mainly to the generosity of the bride's father) is very prettily situated almost at the very gates of Trevarno, and the tasteful decorations with which both the interior and exterior were adorned added considerably to its appearance. Notwithstanding that the ceremony took place as early as nine o'clock, all the country side seemed to have turned out to see the wedding.
The interior of the chapel was decorated with choice plants and flowers, and at the entrance a triumphal arch of evergreens had been erected, surmounted by a motto wishing peace and prosperity to the bride and bridegroom ; while at the lodge-gates at Trevarno a similar display was made, the whole having been tastefully carried out under the superintendence of the head gardener, Mr. King.
Shortly before nine o'clock, the bridegroom entered the chapel, attended by Mr. H. E. Gilbert, as best man, and in a few minutes was joined at the altar by the bride who was accompanied by her father, and attended by Miss Laura Smith, her cousin.... Mr. W. Bickford-Smith gave his daughter away.....
