DREADFUL ACCIDENT BY FIRE.—One evening last week, Mrs. Tucker, wife of Capt. Benjamin Tucker, late of Camborne, and now of Constantine, being in her bedroom, accidentally brought the candle in contact with the bed curtains, which instantly took fire. Mrs. Tucker with great presence of mind set about extinguishing the flames, and eventually succeeded ; but no sooner had she done this, than she discovered that her own apparel was on fire. She succeeded again in subduing the flames, but not before she had sustained such serious injuries that her recovery is rendered extremely doubtful. It appears that Mrs. Tucker was alone at the time of the accident, Capt. Tucker being at the mine. She lay the whole night without assistance, and when found in the morning her situation was truly deplorable.
