"His Royal Highness the Prince Regent has been pleased, in the name and on behalf of his Majesty, to give and to grant unto James Vivian Tippet, of Falmouth, Gent. his Majesty's Royal licence and permission, that he and his issue may, in compliance with an injunction contained in the last will and testament of his kinsman, John Vivian, of Pencalenick in the County of Cornwall aforesaid, Esquire, henceforth assume and use the Surname of Vivian, only, instead of that of Tippet: and that he and they may also bear the arms of Vivian, such arms being first duly exemplified according to the laws of arms, and recorded in the Herald's Office, otherwise his Majesty's said licence and permission to be void and of none effect." 1
