"In an article in the Cornwall Family History Magazine Dec. 2001 'Visitations' Re- Visited - The Camborne Vivians by Trevor Brokenshire Mem. No. 07960. Trevor has this to say of John Vivian; John Vivian - the PR has a John bap. 16 Feb 1722-23 the son of Leetell John Vivian. On 28th July 1746 John Vivian, the Elder, John Vivian, the Younger and others took from John Enys a Lett for copper in Wheel Bowan ( Park-an-Bowen Mine ). Amongst several adventurers were Francis Vivian and Richard Vivian. Candidates for "Elder and "Younger" are Little John and his son; but another possibility is John bap. 18 Aug. 1716 ("Visitations" date for John Vivian of Vellandaundry) is the son of John bap. 9th Jan. 1686-87 who married Alice on 14th Nov.1715; those John s may be the "Elder" & "Younger". Possible support for this theory is that John and Alice had other children; Francis bap. 4th Oct. 1718 and Richard bap. 16 Nov. 1723, the son of "Long Jn Vivian". Tehidy Estate records have an entry at 3rd Dec. 1787 "Jn Vivian, Camborne Yeo. Hse & 7 fields about 6 acres, pt. of land of Camborne Veor. Lives Jn. V 64, Ann 29, Andrew 27 his children". A Capt. John Vivian was buried on 13th Oct. 1790 "aged 68". The age clearly written in the PR seems to be reasonable proof that Capt. John was the son of Leetell John and the Jn. Vivian referred to in 1787. John Vivians will is dated 22nd June 1790. Executors were to be John, George, Henry and Johnson Vivian. Beneficiaries were Ann Vivian " to have Camborne Veor & 21 pounds in cash". Andrew Vivian, Hannah Glasson ( Hannah Vivian married Richard Glasson on 6th Dec. 1783 ) ; Margery Vivian ( under 21 years old at the date of the will); Jane Piper ? John Vivian to have 30 pounds as Eldis Sone" and Henry Vivian "to have 20 pounds to buy tools - over & above George & Johnson Vivian". The Will referred to Jn Vivian as Ann s husband. With regard to Ann's inheritance an entry at 1st Sept. 1798 in the Tehidy Estate records is as follows ; "Joseph Vivian Cam. Yeo. Hse & 7 fields about 6 acres let of tenement of Camborne Veor. Lives JV 41, Ann his wife 40, Andrew his Brother-in-law 38". The ages given are confirmed by PR baptisms, JV 41 , the son of Simon was bap. 4th Sept. 1757. The 1798 property is identical to that in the Tehidy Estates entry for 3rd Dec. 1787. With regard to the property occupied by John and then by Joseph and Ann,. A Survey and Valuation of the Manor of Tehidy carried out in 1806, shows that Joseph Vivian was the tenant of 7 parcels, one of which was a house yard and garden , in the Mount Pleasant area of Camborne, within the southerly block of Camborne Veor. The 7 parcels cover the area of " Long Close" in the 1737 Tehidy Estates Plan, shown as being occupied by Jn. Vivian. The above facts seem to confirm that it was John bap. 16 Feb. 1722-23, the son of Little John Vivian , who married Ann Eva on 20th Jan. 1756 and that their children were John, Ann, Andrew, Mary, Hannah, George, Henry, Johnson and Margery."
