On 22 Sep 1849, Christopher Temby, age 28, agr. labourer, born in Crowan Cornwall, wife Sarah (Glasson), age 23, and sons Christopher, age 2, and John, an infant, arrived in Port Adelaide, South Australia, per the ship Harry Lorrequer.

"...The death of Mr. Christopher Temby, sen., came somewhat as a surprise. Only recently he had removed from the township of Two Wells, where he had taken up his residence in retirement. He purchased the property known as Paddy's station, on the River Light, on the main road from Two Wells to Mallala, where he lived many years, and was successful in farming and pastoral pursuits. Mr. Temby was a justice of the peace, and had been chairman of the district council..." 6
