In 1891 Thomas Carne, aged 47, born in St. Agnes Cornwall, farmer, and wife Elizabeth, aged 33, born in Australia, were living in Peterville, St. Agnes. With them was Thomas' widowed mother Jane Carne.
In 1901 Thomas Butson Carne, aged 57, born in St. Agnes Cornwall, grocer & shopkeeper, and wife Elizabeth Ann, aged 43, born in Victoria Australia, were living at 42 Bridwell Road, Devonport Devon.
