"MOONTA. February 7.

Edward Quintrell, while at work clearing a pass at Taylor's Shaft, Moonta Mines, this afternoon, missed his footing. The stuff came away about him. and twenty minutes elapsed before he was got clear by his mates. His arm was broken, and he was very much bruised. Hopes of his recovery are enter- tained, though Dr. Archer is not sure that other bones are not broken, or that there is not internal injury."

"Our Moonta Mines correspondent writes:—Mr. Edward Quintrell passed away at his residence, Cross Roads, on Monday last, after a day or two's illness. The deceased was an old miner, was born in Cambourne, Cornwall, in 1858 [sic], and was 56 years of age. He left his home 36 years ago and came straight on to the Moonta mines, where he spent the greater part of his time. He left Moonta Mines a few years ago for Broken Hill, but owing to the miners' complaint returned to Moonta seven weeks ago. He was about on Thursday last in the town, and seemed in his usual health. Besides a widow there are six sons; four reside at Broken Hill and two at Moonta. The funeral took place on Wednesday, and was followed by a large number of friends and members of the Loyal Daly Lodge, of which body the deceased was a member. The bearers were drawn from his lodge. The service was conducted bv the Rev. N. H. Fennel, of the Methodist Church, and Brother A. L. Floyd read the service of the lodge. Mr. E. Magor carried out the undertaking arrangements." 4 5
