In 1851 William Curtis (66) of St. Erth, pilot, and wife Mary (65) of Phillack were living in Ventonleague, Phillack. With them was son William (23) of Phillack.

In 1861 Willm Curtis (77) of Phillack, widower, coal labr, was living in Venton League, Phillack. Present were son-in-law James Curtis* (43) of Phillack, copper miner, daughter Susan Curtis (39) of Phillack, grandchildren (born in Phillack): James (16), agg lab, Willm (14), agg lab, Thomas (11), agg lab, Sarah (6), Mary (3).

* Perhaps an error of the census taker, William's son-in-law was James Symons, not James Curtis.
