  Research Notes:

In 1851 Maria Penberthy (38) of Phillack and husband John Penberthy (44) of Redruth, iron founder, were living in Greenwith Common, Perranarworthal. With them were children: Mary (15) of Phillack, Eliza (13) of St. Anne London, Maria (9) of St. Augustine Somerset, Anna (6) of Phillack, Ellen (4) of Bedminster Somerset, J. H. E. (1) of Redcliff Somerset, and visitor Elizabeth Parker (17) of Bedminster, annuitant.

In 1861 Maria Penberthy (48) of Phillack, wife of a copper miner abroad, was living in North of Guilford, Phillack. Present were children: Eliza (24) of London Middlesex, house servant, Maria (19) of Bristol Gloucester, mine labourer, Anna (16) of Phillack, mine labourer, Ellen (14) of Bristol, mine labourer, Angelina (9) of St. Gluvias, scholar, Sarah (6) of St. Gluvias, scholar, Mary J. (4 ms.) of Phillack, and boarder William Phillips (24) of Penryn, farm labourer.

In 1871 Maria Penberthy (68)* of Phillack and husband John Penberthy (77)* of Redruth, moulder, were living in Angarrack, Phillack. With them were children: Annah (25) of Phillack, mine girl, Ellen (22) of Phillack, servant, Ann S. (17) of Perran Will, servant, Sarah (16) of Perran Will, servant, Isah (5) of Gwithian.

* These could very well be errors on the part of the census taker (see 1881).

In 1881 Maria Penberthy (68) of Hayle and husband John Penberthy (77) of Redruth, iron founder, were living in cottage, Illogan. At home was daughter Sarah (23) of Hayle, general servant domestic.

In 1891 Maria Penberthy (77) of Phillack, widow, was living in Herland, Gwinear. With her was daughter Sarah (35) of Penryn, farm servant.

Maria Penberthy of Church Town died aged 85 years (burial record). Actual age closer to 87.

  Marriage Information:

Maria married John Penberthy, son of John Penberthy and Enstance Johns, on 16 Jun 1832 in Phillack, Cornwall. (John Penberthy was christened on 22 Feb 1807 in Redruth, Cornwall and was buried in Aug 1883 in St. Euny Churchyard, Redruth, Cornwall.)
