  Research Notes:

"DEATH OF MR. G. CRASE.

ADELAIDE, Friday.-The death occurred suddenly this morning of Mr. George Crase, who was well known and highly esteemed in insurance circles in Adelaide. He had been secretary of the Prisoners' Aid Society since its inception. Mr. Crase, who was 75 years of age, had been connected with the staff of the Australian Mutual Provident Society for between 30 and 40 years. He was its senior agent in South Australia." 9

"The Late George Crase.

From "D.H.B":-Surely the passing hence of George Crase will result in something being dome to honor his memory and perpetuate the work to which he untiringly devoted almost all his time, and certainly all his talents. It is rare indeed to find a man so eagerly willing to do whatever he could to help some brother in distress, and I opine that the committee of the Prisoners' Aid Society will find a great difficulty in obtaining someone to take George Crase's place in that useful and most necessary organisation. May I suggest that a meeting of friends in sympathy with the movement he called without delay to consider the best way to keep green the memory of "the prisoner's friend." I think a brass or marble tablet in the chapel at the Stockade will be a simply yet effective way of doing this. May I also suggest that the first Sunday in November (that being the date of the society's usual monthly service at the Stockade) be made a memorial service for this good worker. His whole heart and soul were wrapped up in those monthly services as those of us know who were associated with him in the work, and I am sure the members of the congregation who assemble there (prisoners, wardens and friends alike), would like to be given this opportunity of testifying to his worth." 10
