In 1857 John Blight was co-executor of the will of his brother Stephen Blight of Illogan.

In 1861 John Blight, aged 47, born in Illogan Cornwall, unmarried, shop keeper, was living at Grocer's Shop, Illogan, Cornwall. With them were sister Jemima Blight (38) of Illogan, unmarried, assistant, and mother Mary Blight (75) of Illogan, widow, house keeper.

In 1871 John Blight, aged 57, born in Illogan, unmarried, grocer, was in Illogan Highway, Illogan. With him was mother Mary Blight (86) of Illogan, widow.

In May 1878 John Blight of Illogan, farmer, was granted Administration of his late mother's personal estate.

In 1881 John Blight, aged 67, born in Illogan, unmarried, retired grocer, was living in Broad Lane, Illogan. With him was Hannah Mitchell* (37) of Illogan, married, housekeeper, and Hannah's son Thomas Mitchell (10) of Illogan, servant.
