In 1841 Sampson Taylor, aged about 25, born in the county, farmer, and wife Catherine, aged about 25, were living in Menwennicke, Trewen Cornwall. With them was son Sampson (1).
In 1847 Sampson Taylor was the sole executor and a beneficiary of his father's will, receiving £55.
In 1851 Sampson Taylor, aged 39, born in Laneast Cornwall, farmer of 200 acres employing 5 outdoor labourers, and wife Catherine, aged 39, born in South Petherwin Cornwall, were living in Venn, Laneast. With them were children (born in Trewinn) Sampson (11), scholar, Mary R. (9), scholar.

On Sunday, the 24th inst., Mr. Sampson Taylor, of Venn, Laneast, aged 44, greatly respected and lamented by all who knew him.

Abstract of the Will of Sampson Taylor of Venn in the Parish of Laneast in the County of Cornwall, Yeoman, written 23 Aug 1856, proved 22 Sep 1856.
He gives, devises and bequeaths his fee-simple estates called Venn and Pallamoor Park in the parish of Laneast which he received after the death of his father John Taylor, and also his estates called Tremers in the parish of St. Cleather where he now resides, to his friends John Parnell of Higher Gunnon in the parish of Altarnum and Richard Couch of Oldhay in the said parish, yeoman, in trust, for his son Sampson Taylor once he reaches the age of twenty-one years.
Gives to his wife £30 per annum after his son reaches the age of twenty-one years.
Directs his trustees to outlay no less than £100 per annum for the maintenance of his wife and two children.
Gives, devises and bequeaths £800 to his daughter Mary Rowe Taylor on her attaining the age of twenty-four years.
Appoints the said John Parnell and Richard Couch co-executors in trust of his last will and testament.
