In 1851 William Bate, aged 69, born in Egloskerry Cornwall, farmer of 160 acres employing 2 labourers, and wife Grace, aged 57, born in Lamerton Devon, were living in Treborough Egloskerry. With them were Ann H Prout (21) of Egloskerry, daughter of Grace Bate, and son William Bate (34) of Egloskerry.
