In 1851 Robert Michell, aged 44, born in Lelant Cornwall, farmer of 25 acres, and wife Jane Michell, aged 37, born in Towednack Cornwall, were living in Chypons, Towednack. With them were children (a) born in Ludgvan: Robert (14), Jane (12), Samuel (10), William (6), and (b) born in Towednack: Hannah N (3) and Joseph N (2).

In 1861 Robert Michell, aged 54, born in Towednack Cornwall, farmer of 40 acres, and wife Jane Michell, aged 45, born in Ludgvan Cornwall, were living at 3 Chypons, Towednack. With them were children (a) born in Ludgvan: Jane (22), dairy maid, Samuel (19), carpenter, William (16), employed on farm, and (b) born in Towednack: Hannah Ninnis (13), dairy maid, Joseph Ninnis (12), scholar, Mary (8), scholar, and Robert's father Samuel Michell (87) of Zennor, independent, annuitant from rents.
