Obituary

"THE LATE MR. W. H. BLIGHT.

Great regret was expressed when it was learned that Mr. W. H. Blight, an old and much respected citizen of Clare, had passed away on Monday evening. Mr. Blight had been failing in health for some months past, and his death was therefore not unexpected. Mr. Blight was well-known throughout the surrounding districts, and had a large circle of friends. He conducted a bakery business here for many years, and always took a keen interest in town and district affairs. He was appointed as a Justice of the Peace many years ago, and conscientiously attended to the duties of the position. His chief interest, however, centered in the Methodist Church, for which he did good service in many positions of trust after he came to manhood. The funeral took place at Spring Farm Cemetery on Wednesday morning, the Rev. E. A. Pederick conducting the service...."

" Mr. W. H. Blight

Mr. W. H. Blight, who died recently, was the eldest surviving son of the late Mr. William and Mrs. Jane Blight. He was born at 'Grove Farm,' two and a half miles east of Clare, and removed to Wallaroo with the family in his childhood, but for health reasons returned to Clare and lived with an uncle (Mr. Thos. Moyes), attending school in Clare. He went back to Wallaroo, but later returned with the family to Clare. He worked with his father and brother in a bakery business in the town, carrying on the business after his father's death with a brother and sister until 1921, when it was sold to Mr. M. I. Edwards. In 1884 he married Miss Mary Hannah, youngest daughter of the late Mr. John Dunstone, of 'Trevenson,' near Clare. His wife and four children, Miss Lily and Mr. W. Edgar, of Barmera, and Mr. John D. Blight, of Reade Park, and Miss Linda Blight, of Clare, survive. He was connected with the Clare branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society for many years, and was a justice of the peace." 5 6
