Nicholas Martin, nephew of Falkes de Bréauté , gives the king a palfrey for having a weekly market on Saturdays, until the king comes of age, at his manor of Combe Martin , unless that market etc. He has the writ. Order to the sheriff of Devon to take etc.

Henry de Trubleville has made fine with the king by 200 marks for having custody of the land and the son and heir of William son of Martin , with the marriage of the same heir, so that he is to render 25 marks of the aforesaid fine at the Exchequer of Easter in the ninth year, 25 marks at the Exchequer of Michaelmas in the same year, and thus from year to year until the aforesaid 200 marks are paid to the king in full, and he has given surety to the king for that fine.

Nicholas son of Martin acknowledged before the king that he demised to Bertram Guteryn the houses and tenements of William le Deneys in Portesmuth to hold in the form of the award of Kenilleworth, which the said Nicholas claimed to have on account of trespasses charged against the said William in the time of the late disturbance in the realm as assigned to him in part satisfaction of 40 marks which the king granted to him towards his expenses while he was in the office of the execution of the said award.

Nicholas son of Martin came into chancery and acknowledged that he owed to the dean and chapter of Wells £20 ; to be levied, in default of payment, of his lands and chattels in co. Somerset. For this recognisance the dean and chapter quit-claimed to Nicholas and his heirs their right in the advowson of the church of Westludeford, saving to them a yearly pension of half a mark in that church.

Blakedon. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief, with the manors of Dertinton, Cumbe Martin and Hone, pertaining to the said manor, by barony, and the manor of Blakedon is head of the barony ; to which barony pertains 10½ knights' fees, tenants unknown because they are in Somerset, Dorset and Devon.
West Lydeford. The manor (extent given), held of the earl of Gloucester by service of one knight's fee and suit to the earl's court of Theukesbur', Bristoll, Fayreford or Thornbur'. The extent includes two-thirds of a water-mill and a statement (too much mutilated to be legible) about the advowson of the church.

Heir, William son of Nicholas son of Nicholas Martin, (age and relationship to deceased illegible).

[William, grandson] of the deceased, aged 25 and more, is his next heir.

Kingeston. The manor (extent given), including . . . . . received by the lepers of Clony . . . , held of the countess of Albemarle by service of ¼ knight's fee ; which manor he had of John Peverel, who enfeoffed him and his heirs thereof, because the said Nicholas demised to him for life to castle of Nuport in Camays in the marches of Wales in co. Panbroch, and the said John held it of the earl Marschall, service unknown, so that after his death it should revert to the heirs of the said Nicholas.
