"William de Cantelupe son of Walter de Cantelupe" donated rent received "annually from Samson his free man of Leg" to Montacute priory by undated charter, witnessed by "William de Cantelupe my son and heir…Gilbert de Sai…". Matthew Paris names “...Willelmus de Cantelu et Willelmus filius eius, Fulco de Canteleu...” among the "consiliarios iniquissimos” of King John. Henry III King of England notified the pardon of "Willelmo de Cantilupo junioris" in return for payment of a fine dated [Oct] 1224. "William de Cantilupo" was granted land "in Caleston which Fulk de Cantilupo his uncle formerly held of the bail of King John" dated 20 Dec 1227. A charter dated 17 Dec 1243 mandated to "W[illiam] de Cantilupe seisin of all the lands which belonged to Hamo de Valoignes in Ireland…with the marriage of Hamo’s heirs".
The Annals of Tewkesbury record the death in 1251 of “Willelmus de Cantilupo in Cathedra Sancti Petri”. 1

The king has granted to William de Cantilupe junior that he may render £30 annually at the Exchequer of the £7 10s. of the remainder of the farm of Calne, of the £201 and one mark of several debts, of 50 m. of a prest [made] by Paulinus Peyvre and Thomas of Newark, of £193 and half a mark of the remainder of a fine for having the custody of the lands [and heir] of Hugh de Gournay, of £90 6s. 0½d. of the remainder of the farm of Bridgwater, of 60s. of the aid to marry the king’s daughter from a fee of Hugh de Lisle, of 20 m. of the prest of Brittany, of 8s. of the chattels of a fugitive, and of 200 m. of a prest made by Brother Geoffrey to the king’s beloved and faithful William de Cantilupe senior, which debts are exacted from William de Cantilupe junior, son and heir of the aforesaid William, namely £15 at the Exchequer of Michaelmas in the thirty-fifth year, £15 at the Exchequer of Easter next following, and £30 thus from year to year at the same terms until all of the aforesaid debts are paid to the king.
