At the time of the 1841 Wales Census Rees Norman, aged 45, born in Glamorgan Wales, boatman, and wife Mary, aged 35, born in Glamorgan, were living in Derffrym, Eglwys llan, Glamorgan. Present were children John (14), Edmund (10), Mary (12).

At the time of the 1851 Wales Census Rees Norman, aged 47 [sic], born in Penmark Glamorgan, ag lab, and wife Mary, aged 48, born in Eglwysilan, were living in Dufryn, Eglwysilan, Glamorgan. Present were son John (25) of Eglwysilan, boatman, his wife Mary (23) of Eglwysilan, their son Rees (21m) of Eglwysilan, servant Richard Williams, boatman, and 2 lodgers.

At the time of the 1861 Wales Census Rees Norman, aged 69, born in Penmark Glamorgan, labourer, and wife Mary, aged 59, born in Eglwysilan, were living in Bwnsi Lane, Eglwysilan, Glamorgan.
