As one of the children of Elizabeth wife of Henry Carpenter, William was bequeathed 20 shillings in the 1773 will of his uncle John Tellam of Illogan, yeoman.
In 1779 William Carpenter and his brother Henry were beneficiaries of the will of their uncle William Tellam of Illogan, receiving all his woollen clothing.
