In 1841 Joseph Carpenter, aged about 30, born in the county, copper miner, and wife Elizabeth, aged about 25, were living in Tregajorran, Illogan, Cornwall. With them was (Joseph's mother) Grace Carpenter (75).
In 1851 Joseph Carpenter, aged 41, born in Illogan Cornwall, copper miner, and wife Elizabeth Carpenter, aged 35, born in Illogan, were living in Carnarthen Moor, Illogan. With them was Joseph's mother Grace Carpenter (88) of Gwinear, widow, pauper.
In 1861 Joseph Carpenter, aged 50, born in Illogan Cornwall, tin miner, and [2nd] wife Elizabeth Carpenter, aged 30, born in Wendron Cornwall, were living in Preacher's Row, Camborne Cornwall.
