As one of the four surviving, unnamed children of his late mother Elizabeth Richards, Nicholas was bequeathed 20 shillings in the Will of his uncle John Gartrell of Phillack, yeoman (written 1767).
In 1784/5 Nicholas Richards and Henry Eudey were churchwardens for Illogan parish.

Gives and bequeaths to his brother Henry Richards his leasehold estate called Meveris Nowath in Illogan parish, and all the rest, residue and remainder of his goods, chattels, rights, credits, ready money and effects, appointing him sole executor of his last will and testament.
After the death of his said brother Henry Richards he wills that what he has willed to him shall pass to his brother Michael Richards and Michael's son William Richards.
