  Research Notes:

There is no christening entry for this George. Indeed, at first, it was natural to assume that Richard, son of this George, was son of George's father, also George, particularly since George Snr also married an Ann. George (Snr) married Ann in 1589. The first baptismal record for one of his children was Henry (1596), although a daughter Margaret was buried in 1593. George (Snr) died in 1633. However, another George Bray (who didn't die young) died in 1627/8. It is plausible to suggest that the latter George was a son of George (Snr), probably born between 1590 and 1596. That he died in 1627/8, that is, before his father, does not therefore contradict Henry being called the heir of George (Snr) in the Visitation. On top of this, Ann, wife of George (Snr) died in 1622 and was called w[ife] of George Braye, gent. in the burial record. Another Ann Bray, widow, died in 1635 in Camborne. My interpretation of this is that George (Snr) and his wife Ann had a son named after his father who married Ann Tredillye in 1616. Between 1589 and 1622 there is only one Ann Bray recorded in the burial register, so one can rule out Ann Tredillye as a second wife of George (Snr).
