A young man named Meynell Collier, visiting at Eastbourne, was sentenced yesterday to a month's hard labour for endangering the life of a boy attendant at Devonshire Baths, by throwing him into deep water. The defendant was in liquor at the time, but the magistrates said they could not inflict a fine in so serious a case.

THE FATAL QUARREL AT SCARBOROUGH.

Mr. Meynell Collier, gentleman, of London, was brought before the Scarborough magistrate yesterday, charged with the manslaughter of Joseph Norris, gentleman, at the Royal Hotel, Scarborough, on the morning of the 10th inst. He was committed for trial at the next York Assizes on the charge of manslaughter, but bail was accepted for the prisoner in £500, and two sureties in £250 each.
