At the time of the 1851 England Census Gertrude B. R. Tennant, aged 30, born in Galway Ireland, and husband Charles Tennant, aged 54, born in Bloomsbury Middlesex, attorney & solicitor, were living at 62 Russell Square, St. George Bloomsbury Middlesex. With them were daughters (born in Bloomsbury) Alice (2) and Blanche (9 mo), and Charles's brother George Tennant (41) of Bloomsbury, unmarried, barrister.

At the time of the 1861 England Census Gertrude B. R. Tennant, aged 41, born in Galway Ireland, and husband Charles Tennant, aged 64, born in Bloomsbury Middlesex, lord of manor, land . . . . . . . , were living at 62 Russell Square, St. George Bloomsbury Middlesex. With them were children (born in St. George Bloomsbury) Alice (12), Charles Coombe (8), Dorothy (6), and Eveleen (4).

In April 1873 Gertrude Barbara Rich Tennant, widow, was the sole executrix of her late husband's Will.

GERTRUDE BARBARA RICH TENNANT, of Richmond Terrace, Whitehall, S.W., and Cadoxton Lodge, Neath, Glamorgan, who died on April 27th, aged 98, eldest daughter of Vice-Admiral Henry Theodosius Brown Collier, R.N., a direct descendant of Oliver Cromwell, and widow of Mr. Charles Tennant, sometime M.P. for St. Albans, left unsettled property of the value of £78,848 gross, of which £78,169 is net personalty.
