In 1850 Charles Tennant was a beneficiary of his mother's Will.

At the time of the 1851 England Census Charles Tennant, aged 54, born in Bloomsbury Middlesex, attorney & solicitor, and wife Gertrude B. R. Tennant, aged 30, born in Galway Ireland, were living at 62 Russell Square, St. George Bloomsbury Middlesex. With them were daughters (born in Bloomsbury) Alice (2) and Blanche (9 mo), and Charles's brother George Tennant (41) of Bloomsbury, unmarried, barrister.

At the time of the 1861 England Census Charles Tennant, aged 64, born in Bloomsbury Middlesex, lord of manor, land . . . . . . . , and wife Gertrude B. R. Tennant, aged 41, born in Galway Ireland, were living at 62 Russell Square, St. George Bloomsbury Middlesex. With them were children (born in St. George Bloomsbury) Alice (12), Charles Coombe (8), Dorothy (6), and Eveleen (4).

C. TENNANT, ESQ.—Mr. Charles Tennant, of Cadoxton, Glamorganshire, who died on the 10th inst., at his residence in Richmond-terrace, Whitehall, at the age of 76, was the eldest surviving son of the late George Tennant, Esq., D.L., of Cadoxton. He was born in the year 1796, and was educated at Harrow. He sat for a short time in the unreformed House of Commons as M.P. for St. Albans in 1830-2. Mr. Tennant, who married a daughter of Admiral Collier, has a left a family of daughters and an only son, Charles, who, according to the "County Families," was born in 1852, and was educated at Harrow and at Balliol College, Oxford.

The Will with a Codicil of Charles Tennant formerly 62 Russell-square and of Gray's Inn but late of 2 Richmond-terrace Whitehall all in the county of Middlesex, Esquire, who died 10 March 1873 at 2 Richmond-terrace, was proved 10 April at the Principal Registry by Gertrude Barbara Rich Tennant of 2 Richmond-terrace, widow, the relict, the sole executrix. Effects under £14,000. 4
