In May 1866 John Howells was present at the marriage of his brother Henry Howells to Jane John in Wenvoe.

In 1871 John Howells, aged 33, born in Wenvoe Glamorgan, unmarried, carpenter, was lodging in Swansea Glamorgan.

In 1881 John Howell, aged 45, born in Wenvoe Glamorgan, single, carpenter, was boarding at 105 Rodney St., Swansea Glamorgan.
