In April 1885 John M Swayne was present at the marriage of his sister Lilian Frances Emma Swayne to Albert Edward Baynham in Wilton Wilts.

At the time of the 1891 England Census John M Swayne, aged 25, born in Netherhampton Wilts, stockbroker's clerk, was living at 5 Bernard St., Bloomsbury St. George, London.

In March 1892 John Montague Swayne, gentleman, was granted Administration of his late father's personal effects.

In February 1893 John M Swayne was present at the marriage of his sister Mina Buchanan Swayne to Thomas Lissaman in Wilton Wilts.

At the time of the 1901 England Census John M Swayne, aged 35, born in Netherhampton Wilts, single, living on own means, was visiting Maud A Wilkinson* (32) of Kensington, single, manageress [of] pub, at Marine Hotel, Walton-le-Soken, Essex.

* John and Maud married the following year.

At the time of the 1911 England Census John M Swayne, aged 46, born in Netherhampton Wilts, private means, Justice of the Peace for Wilts, and wife of 8 years Maud Adelaide, aged 42, born in S Kensington London (mother of 3 children) were living in Berwick St. James, Wiltshire. With them were children Mina Ethel Evelyn (7) of Hoxne Suffolk, Beryl Margaret Alice (5) of Wilton, and John Felix Crealock (1) of Wilton, and (Maud's) niece Bertha Maud Wilkinson (18) of Hurlington London, student.

In July 1928 John Montague Swayne, esquire, was granted Probate of the personal effects of his late sister Katharine Sophia Farebrother, widow.

In the 1939 Register John M Swayne (b. 30 May 1865), private means, Justice of the Peace for Wilts, and wife Maud A Swayne (b. 18 Feb 1868), unpaid domestic duties, were living at 7 Queensberry Road, Salisbury Wiltshire.
