In the 1939 Register Jessie Mary Oates (b. 6 Jan 1875), single, principal of private school, was living at 8 High School Doctor Lane, Mirfield, Yorkshire West Riding.

MIRFIELD TEACHER
The death has taken place of Miss Jessie Mary Oates (67), of Huddesfield Road, Mirfield, principal of the Mirfield High School for Girls. Miss Oates, a native of Heckmondwike, went to Mirfield over 25 years ago when, with her sister, the late Miss Ethel Oates, she founded the school.
