At the time of the 1891 England Census George Newick, age 19, born in Etchingham Sussex, agricultural labourer, was with his parents in Bugsell Forge Farm, Saleshurst, Sussex.

At the time of the 1901 England Census George Newick, age 29, born in Etchingham Sussex,hind, ag. horse, and wife Emily, age 28, born in Northiam Sussex, were living in Bourne, Sandhurst, Kent. Present were children: Frederick G. (4) of Etchingham, Bessie D. (4 months) of Sandhurst Kent.

At the time of the 1911 Census George Newick, age 39, born in Etchingham Sussex, farm labourer, and wife of 15 years Emily, age 38, born in Northiam Sussex (mother of 3 children, 1 deceased),were living in East Heath Cottages, Hawkhurst Kent. With him were children: Frederick George (15), farm labourer, and Bessie Dora (10), at school.

In Jun 1913 George Newick was present at the marriage of his brother Frank Bertram Newick to Hannah Ward in Salehurst Sussex.

In Aug 1930 George Newick was present at the marriage of his daughter Bessie Dora Newick to Francis Thomas Joseph Matthews in Wadhurst Sussex.

In the 1939 Register George Newick (b. 19 Apr 1871), farm labourer, and [2nd] wife Sarah J Newick (b. 21 Mar 1897), unpaid domestic duties, were living at 1 Bungalow Pell Hill, Rotherfield, Sussex. At the same address was [George's son] Frederick G Newick (b. 2 May 1896), single, private gardener.

Burwash Weald

The funeral took place at Wadhurst last week of Mr. George Newick, aged 81, of Laurel Hurst Cottage, Burwash Weald. A retired farm labourer, he had lived in the district for most of his life. He came to Burwash from Wadhurst, where he lived for many years, five years ago. A widow, a son and a daughter survive him.
