At the time of the 1851 England Census Frederick Horton, aged 58, born in London Middlesex, retired hop factor & fundholder, and wife Maria, aged 56, born in Hinxton Cambridgeshire, were living in Upper Marine Terrace, Margate St. John the Baptist Kent. With them was daughter Matilda (17) of Brixton Surrey.

In 1863 Frederick Horton of Peasmarsh, gentleman, was co-executor of the Will of his late brother Robert Horton of Peasmarsh, farmer.

At the time of the 1871 England Census Frederick Horton, aged 78, born in London Middlesex, , widower, retired hop factor, was living at 10 Mt. Ararat Rd., Richmond Surrey. With him were daughter Matilda Horton (37) of Brixton Surrey, unmarried, and granddaughter Ada E Horton (21) of Ilford Essex.
