Abstract of the Will of Benjamin Blackman of the Parish of Wartling in the County of Sussex, Yeoman, written 25 Sep 1816, codicil 2 Apr 1817, proved 4 Feb 1825. 5
Gives and bequeaths £50 to his wife Elizabeth Blackman. Also gives her a bed and associated furniture according to her choosing, all his linen, the use of his household furniture for the term of her natural life.
Gives and bequeaths £500 to his daughter Mary Blackman. Also gives to her after the decease of his wife the household furniture, plate and china that remains.
Gives and bequeaths £500 to his daughter Charlotte the wife of David Hyland.
Gives and bequeaths £100 to his grandson Robert Horton.
Gives and bequeaths £600 to his son Benjamin Blackman and to William Elphick the younger late of Friston and now of Newhaven, gentleman, upon Trust, to invest said amount in public funds, and pay the interest arising from the investment to his daughter Elizabeth the wife of George Horton for her own private use, for the term of her natural life and, after she dies, the said £600 and its interest and dividends to be divided among her children.
Gives and bequeaths £500 to his son Benjamin Blackman and to the said William Elphick, upon Trust, to invest as before, and pay the interest &c to his daughter Mary Blackman during the term of her natural life.
Gives and bequeaths £500 to his son Benjamin Blackman and to the said William Elphick, upon Trust, to invest as before, and pay the interest &c to his daughter Charlotte the wife of David Hyland during the term of her natural life.
Gives and bequeaths to his wife Elizabeth an annuity or yearly rent of £80 out of his messuages, lands, tenements and hereditaments in Wartling and elsewhere in Sussex.
Gives, devises and bequeaths the rest of his messuages, tenements, lands, hereditaments, real estate, monies, securities of money, stock, cattle, husbandry tackle and the remainder of his personal estate and effects to his son Benjamin Blackman and his heirs, appointing him and the said William Elphick co-executors of his last will and testament.

ALL Persons having any claim or demands on the estate of BENJAMIN BLACKMAN, the elder, late of Wartling, in the county of Sussex, are requested to send an account thereof to MR. BENJAMIN BLACKMAN, of Hooe, on or before the 29th day of September next, in order that the same may be examined and settled ; and all persons who stood indebted to the said Benjamin Blackman, the elder, at the time of his decease, are requested to pay the amount of their respective debts to the said Benjamin Blackman, of Hooe, on or before the said 29th day of September next.
