At the time of the 1881 England Census Sarah Newick, age 18, born in Willingdon Sussex, was working as a kitchenmaid / domestic servant at Poobley House, Ticehurst, Sussex.
Emigrated to Boston, Massachussetts, USA from Queenstown, Ireland and Liverpool England on 15 May 1885 aboard the ship Scythia, traveling with her aunt and uncle - Ann and Daniel Davis: Sarah Newick*, age 21, spinster along with a child William D(avis) Newick*, age 3 years. 4
* The only possible Sarah this could have been was the youngest daughter of Ann Davis's brother Henry Newick by his first marriage (Sarah Newick, b.1862). In the 1900 U.S. Census, William D. Newick is shown as nephew of Sarah's aunt Ann Davis (i.e. great nephew). See further notes under son William.
