"Underneath lie the remains of Richard Garnons, of Pant Du, Gent. and Catherine his first wife: she was buried on the 7th day of July, 1718, aged 36; and he on the 17th day of April, 1742, aged 77, after having served in his youthful days as a volunteer in all the Irish wars." 2

Abstract of the Will of Richard Garnons of Nantlley in the County of Carnarvon, Gentleman, written 21 Apr 1741, proved 14 Jun 1742. 3

Refers to an Indenture Tripartite dated 29 Apr 1727 made between Ellen Garnons of Rhiw Goch in county Merioneth, widow, himself the said Richard Garnons of Pant Dû co. Carnarvon, Gent. and Mary his wife, John Garnons of Rhiw Goch aforesaid, Gent. his eldest son and heir apparent and Jane his wife of the first part; Richard Vaughan of Corse y Gedol in co. Merioneth Esqr., and Griffith Roberts of Blaen y Ddol in co. Merioneth of the second part; and John Wynn of Glyn llivon in co. Carnarvon Esqr., and John Hughes of Trevan in co. Carnarvon, Esqr., of the third part, in which Indenture is contained a proviso or power whereby provision be made for the maintenance and education of his younger children and for the payment of his debts....

Gives, devises & bequeaths to his friends Rice Williams of Glaur Avon in co. Carnarvon, Esqr., and William Williams of Pen'r allt in the same county, Esqr., those messuage, tenement and lands with appurtenances called Talmignedd? for and during a term of four years after his decease in Trust, paying out of the rents, issues and profits of said premisses £10 to his daughter Ellen Garnons for her sole & separate use, £30 to his daughter Mary Garnons and her children, £40 to his son Griffith Garnons, and the surplus of the said rents, issues and profits from the premisses called Talmignedd to his son Paul Garnons.

Gives & bequeaths to his eldest son John Garnons 2s. 6d.

Gives & bequeaths to William Williams & Rice Williams a guinea each to buy themselves a ring.

Nominates, constitutes & ordains his son-in-law [name blotted by spilled ink] as [sole executor] of his last will and testament.
