Abstract of the Will of John Meredith of Pengwern in the Parish of Llanwnda in the County of Caernarvon, written 5 Jul 1703, inventory taken 10 May 1704, administration granted 16 Jul 1704, will proved 20 Jun 1705. 2

Refers to an Indenture dated 16 Aug 29 Chas. II [1677] made between himself of the first part, Robert Wynne and Richard Edwards of the second part, and Evan Evans since deceased of the third part, in which a power is reserved to him to direct £300 arising from the charges on his real estate toward the preferment of his younger children, as follows:

Directs that £100 be paid to his wife Mary out of the rents, issues & profits of his real estate, for the payment of his debts, the remainder of which shall be to her own use.

The sum of £300 will be raised out the issues &c of the said premises for his only daughter Lowry Meredith. But if Lowry get married without her mother's permission, then said sum will be void and he will instead give and bequeath to her £5 only together with a prayer book and a gold ring with a stone inset.

As to the rest and residue of his premisses and lands, together with the reversion after his wife's death of the said lands in Pengwern and Llanwnda, he gives and devises the same to his son and heir Humphrey Meredith and his heirs. In default of such issue, he gives & devises the same to his daughter Lowry Meredith and her heirs. And in default of such issue, he gives & devises the same to his niece Ellin Vaughan, second daughter of his nephew John Vaughan of Aberkin in county Carnarvon.

Gives & bequeaths 12 pence to his said son Humphrey Meredith.

Gives & bequeaths 6 pence each to his sisters Jane and Rachell.

Gives & bequeaths 6 pence to his brother Hugh Meredyth.

Constitutes, ordains & appoints his wife Mary Meredyth sole executrix and residuary legatee of his last will and testament.

Devises and appoints Mr Owen Hughes of Beamares?, Mr James Brynkir of Brynkir and his nephew John Vaughan of Aberkin, gent. to be overseers of his last will.
