John Owens of Tanybryn, Parish of Towyn died aged 58 years (burial record).

On the 22nd day of April in the year of our Lord 1839 personally appeared Louisa Owen and alleged that John Owen late of Towyn in the Parish of Towyn in the County of Merioneth died in the year of our Lord 1839 intestate, without making any Will; that she this appearer is the lawful widow and relict of the said deceased. Therefore she prays that Administration of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased be granted to her on giving the usual security.

A bond of £863 was paid by Louisa Owen of Towyn, widow, Edward Owen of Tyn y Cornel in Talyllyn, farmer, and Griffith Jones of Dolgellau.

Let Administration pass as prayed to the said Louisa Owen, she being first personally sworn on the Holy Evangelists, as the law directs, and that the whole of the goods, chattels, and credits of the said deceased do not amount in value to £450. 4

4 B / 1839 / 171 / B, Bangor Probate Records, held at the National Library of Wales. The Bond states that the "Intestate died on the 5th day of April 1839." This is an error and should be 5th day of March, noting that "inventory of all and singular the goods, chattels, cattle and effects of the late John Owen esquire deceased was taken on 12 Mar 1839..."
