Writing his Will in Dec 1833 George Roods of Hastings, gentleman, named his sister Maria Roods as a beneficiary.

Gives, devises and bequeaths the residue of £1,000—being her marriage settlement, now held in trust by John Blackman of Warbleton in co. Sussex, gentleman, and James Matthews of Royston in co. Hertford, chemist—to her brothers Henry Crowhurst Roods, surgeon, and Thomas Roods, gentleman, both of 67 Great Russell St. in the parish of St. George Bloomsbury in co. Middlesex, in trust, to invest the same in government stocks or funds, and to pay the dividends, interest and annual produce thereof to her husband David Matthews during the term of his natural life. And after his decease she gives, devises and bequeaths the same to her aforesaid brothers Henry Crowhurst Roods and Thomas Roods, whom she appoints co-executors of her last will.
